Specialist — Recruitment & Student Success

Rend Lake College seeks a full-time SPECIALIST — RECRUITMENT & STUDENT SUCCESS. This individual will: plan, coordinate, and implement recruitment activities focusing on students who may be disadvantaged or underserved, including but not limited to minorities, first-generation students and low-income students; assist / partner with college staff to identify, develop, and implement student success programs that will increase persistence and completion rates for target populations; counsel students and parents with complex, extenuating, or unusual circumstances related to enrollment, verification, and/or financial aid opportunities; serve as a mentor for underrepresented populations; assist target population with financial aid, scholarships, university applications and transfer process; report on, track, and assess the effectiveness of student success efforts; establish partnerships and presences in underserved areas of the college district; identify training opportunities within the community to enhance employability of district residents and coordinate the development of such training with area businesses; assist members of the RL-Cares Team for the dissemination of information as requested and/or to address issues as identified by the student, and serve as a member of RL-Cares as directed; serve on RLC’s Equity and Diversity Committee as directed; assist with Cultural Events and Diversity Week events which benefit / interest targeted populations; work with RLC’s Marketing & Public Information Department to disseminate information about educational opportunities and support services available to students; assist in management of Strategic Enrollment Management Plan as requested; refer students to other services as needed or requested; support college functions across campus; and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required.
  • Ability to engage and build relationships with underserved and disadvantaged students and prospective students.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills required, including the ability to address and present to groups of people.
  • Solid computer skills preferred.
  • Employment contingent upon successfully passing a background screening process.
SALARY & BENEFITS
  • $30,000 - $35,000 annual salary
